Shalom and welcome!

Greetings from Sullivan County, New York, home of Congregation Bikur Cholim B’Nai Israel.  We hope that this letter finds you well and enjoying the summer.  This year marks the 92nd anniversary of the Congregation’s existence -- one that has spanned five generations.  We take great pride in how the Congregation has persevered and sincerely thank you for your involvement over the years.  The shul and its historical contents have been maintained, cleaned, refurbished and improved little by little each year, and these efforts would not be possible without your support.

We are writing to invite you and your family and friends to spend the Jewish High Holidays with us this year.  The Congregation will conduct services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur 2018 (5779), including evening services on Sunday, September 9th, and concluding with evening services on Tuesday, September 11th.  For Yom Kippur, we will hold Kol Nidre services on Tuesday, September 18th and will conclude with the break-fast after sundown on Wednesday, September 19th.  We are pleased to announce that, for the thirteenth consecutive year, Rabbi Avram Brody will be returning to lead services for the Congregation.

The synagogue is located in Swan Lake, NY at the corner of Route 55 and Pvt. Irving Blum Road/Old White Lake Turnpike.  It was originally constructed in 1926, and was recognized as a New York State and Federal Historical Landmark in 1999.

We ask for your support this year by inviting you to experience our synagogue’s charm and to share the New Year together.  Without your ongoing support in recent years, the resurgence that the Congregation has experienced would not be possible.  In addition, thanks to your generous donations, during the past year, the roof of the synagogue was repaired and new stained glass windows were installed.  We invite you to contribute by visiting our Support Page.

Our family wishes yours L’Shana Tova V’Metuka - a happy and sweet New Year.  Let’s keep the tradition alive!
