Shalom and welcome!
Dear Congregants,
Greetings from Sullivan County, New York, home of Congregation Bikur Cholim B’Nai Israel. We hope that you and your family are healthy and enjoying the summer.
We are thrilled to announce that Rabbi Elchanan Weinbach will return to lead this year’s High Holiday services for the Congregation’s 98th year. Rabbi Weinbach and his wife, Yocheved, helped carry forward Bikur Cholim’s traditions last holiday season, and we eagerly welcome their return. The Weinbachs look forward to spending the holidays with the entire Congregation in our traditional style in shul and under the tent at our family’s nearby home. As Rabbi Weinbach helped us to implement last year, the Congregation welcomes changes to the services to incorporate:
We encourage you to read some of Rabbi Weinbach’s published writings online or to listen to some of the teachings on his YouTube channel. We have found both to be extremely insightful and a great introduction to his philosophies and approaches to Judaism. Of course, we can make a personal introduction to Rabbi Weinbach if you wish to speak with him.
We look forward to being together again for the Holidays, to share traditions and to carve out new ones together. The Congregation will conduct services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur 2024 (5785), including evening services on Wednesday, October 2nd, and concluding with Shabbat services on Friday, October 4th. For Yom Kippur, we will hold Kol Nidre services on Friday, October 11th and will conclude with the break-fast after sundown on Saturday, October 12th.
We thank you for your continued involvement and ongoing support over the years. We hope that you and your family are looking forward to this year’s exciting changes as much as we are.
Our family wishes yours L’Shana Tova V’Metuka - a happy and sweet New Year. Let’s keep the tradition alive!
Sincerely,
On Behalf of the Congregation Bikur Cholim B’Nai Israel,
